How this works
- Pick the material. Not sure? Each one says what it is for. Fill goes under things. Topsoil grows things. Stone drains and packs.
- Say how much. Type the yards or tons if you know them, or measure the spot and let the calculator do it.
- Say where and when. Your city or zip, and whether a dump truck can get to the spot.
- Get a price. A delivered price for your address comes back by phone or email, usually the same business day.
Know before you order
- A tandem dump truck carries about 12 yards of dirt or 16 to 18 tons of stone. Most orders are one or two loads.
- Fill dirt is for structure and settles about 15 percent. Order a little more than the hole measures.
- One yard of topsoil covers 81 square feet at four inches deep. A small lawn is two loads.
- The truck needs about 12 feet of clear width and firm ground. If it cannot reach the spot, the load goes at the closest point.
